The lunar near side as seen by Apollo 8 on December 24, 1968. The large impact crater in the bottom half of the photo is Goclenius and its rille system suggests that it is older than the area around it. To the top left is the crater Colombo named after Christopher Columbus. Below that is Magelhaens Crater, and finally on the far right is Gutenberg crater.
